It's fascinating to read my own post here, from the end of 2020! I posed a multi faceted question at the end of that, so here is an update:
• Cathy and I bought a house together in June of 2021, in ... Maynard, Massachusetts, only a few blocks from where I had been living since late 2019. One of her children still lives with us (almost 20 years old), but there's nothing unusual about that these days, as the cost of living has continued to increase!
• The pandemic is largely over, although we still wear masks when in close quarters (such as rare trips on public transportation). Somehow, I forsaw this. Way back in the spring of 2020, my intuition told me that it would go on for three years, until March of 2023, and that's pretty much what happened. Most people are going out without masks and attending events in person again.
• I feel relatively settled here. We have invested in the house (solar panels, heat pump system, insulation, electric cars, & a variety of minor repairs and upgrades).
• I am still working for a few clients, both database and video production, but I'm largely turning my energy to community affairs and public information (in the form of videos and essays on my various web sites. I am focused mostly on openeyesvideo.com - energystories.org - and now townwidemall.com
• I think a lot about the desire for many folks to get "back to normal" now that the pandemic has eased, but I know full well that we are likely to face more unexpected challenges and events, locally, regionally, nationally, and world wide, as we go forward. We are trying to stay as adaptable and agile as possible, given that we own a house and a piece of land in a community in the metro west region of Boston.
